The mapping of the Pad HPD silicon sensor

 

A sensor has 16 segments. A segment consists of 128 pads, numbered from 1..128. Each segment is readout by one Viking chip. The correlation between the Viking channel number and the geometrical position on the segment is shown on the drawing. For the second and further sectors, n*128 has to be added to the numbers.

Some of the HPDs are equipped with  'half moon' sensors. In this case the 2 half sensors are separated (dead zone) by 2mm. For full moon sensors all 16 sectors are on a monolithic piece of silicon.

Nominal pad size: 1 x 1 mm^2. Edge pads have different size.
