Present activities:    ( for details see  http://cern.ch/ssd/ )

The Solid State Detector Support and R&D section EP-TA1-SD is a support unit at CERN. We are responsible for the EP-Divisional Silicon Facility, which is presently under construction and will comprise large area clean rooms with bonding machines and other equipment relevant to solid state detectors. We are in charge of the irradiation facilities in the CERN East Hall.

Other activities: Thin film technology, mirrors, photo cathodes (visible and UV), for vacuum (Hybrid Photo Diodes) and gaseous photo detectors (mainly for Cherenkov radiation).

Interests in the collaboration:

-         Defect engineered silicon

-         Basic studies related to irradiation of detectors with
different particles and under different conditions

Resources:

-         24 GeV/c proton irradiation facility           (http://cern.ch/irradiation/)

-         Neutron irradiation facility (mixed field)   (http://cern.ch/irradiation/)

-         Bench tests for CV/IV measurements, Charge collection measurements with laser

-         NaI and Ge Spectrometer

-         Access to clean room, bonding machines and further CERN infrastructures
