Subject: Candidates for R&D Spokesperson

Dear Colleague

We ( Wim DeBoer, Erik Heijne, Guido Tonelli, Peter Weilhammer) have been
asked to propose candidates for the election by the Collaboration Board of
the spokesperson of the new R&D Collaboration " DEVELOPMENT OF RADIATION
HARD SEMICONDUCTOR DEVICES FOR VERY HIGH LUMINOSITY COLLIDERS". We would
like to ask you, as the contact of your institution, confidentially a few
questions:

1.	Do you want to put forward  a candidate from your institution?
2.	Do you want to propose one or more candidates of your preference within
the whole Collaboration?

We remind you of the proposed criteria for a spokesperson agreed upon at the
end of the workshop in December at CERN:

-	" He/she should be able to attribute a very substantial fraction of
his/her time to this commitment"
-	" He/she should not have a comparable function in another scientific
collaboration"

We would like to add to these criteria that he/she should have made in the
past substantial academic and technical contributions in the field. Also the
aspect of leadership quality and good communication skills are in our
opinion very important criteria to carry out the task successfully.
